Caldwell, NJ Taxes "Pie-High in the Sky"

The town notes the Board of Ed controls 52% of the budget. I don't doubt it for many reasons. All parents and teachers should know that people like me are not "anti-education". That would be like saying because we want our families home from Iraq we are anti-American." In fact we are PRO-EDUCATION. We are all for the tools and equipment our teachers need. We are all for a safe environment for our students. And we are all for a fair salary. What we are against is poor management and greed. Bidding over $10,000 for a project should be bid out. I believe the re-sodding of the football field at 1.6 million was awarded-without bid. I also understand there are 2 coaches making 6-figure salaries. The list goes on.

Now all you so-called pro-education people who shudder and shake when the budget comes up and you freely vote "YES" to any increase, keep in mind that the 1.6 million for sod should go to your kids education, not a contractor. The 6-figure salaries are going to just a couple of educators, not several.

If you care for your kids you will stop approving increases until our educational system gets their house in order. The irony is, we are supposed to be keeping house, you, me and the rest of the Caldwell residents.
